Amenorrhea rarely occurs due to serious medical conditions. But the problem of amenorrhea can be disturbing (mentally and emotionally) to the patients as well as to the family members and need to be investigated appropriately to diagnose the cause of amenorrhea and treat it accordingly. Amenorrhea encompasses complex hormonal problems and may not be easy to diagnose (find out the cause).
To find out the cause of amenorrhea, your doctor will carry out some physical examination (such as pelvic examination and other physical examinations) and some laboratory investigations, such as pregnancy test, some blood tests, Progestin challenge test, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and some imaging tests.
Pregnancy test:
This is probably the first test your doctor will carry out to rule out pregnancy or to confirm pregnancy. It is important to confirm pregnancy or rule out pregnancy. There are many medications which should not be used during pregnancy.
